Advanced Micro Devices processor software update released

Was doing a weekly check on Windows Update, and it says there is a new driver availale for my AMD system. The exact title of the update is :

Advanced Micro Devices processor software update released on December 17 2002

Anyone know what this is about?

I have a dual Barton system on Tyan S2462

I've seen that before but it never installed properly. I ignore it now.

Just leave it alone, it'll probably disappear.

I can find no difference in before and after update on sisoft arithmetic and multimedia scores. :dunno:

MSI dual tbred 1700's at 2ghz apiece.

I can find no differences either. M$ site has no information on exactly what it is. Does anyone have anymore info?

i don't know, but i saw it as well...installed it and no troubles, but no benefits that i can discern either...

also, are you guys getting an almost daily update for windows media player? it's getting annoying and it's always the same update patch code...

I have not had a WMP update in ages. I have 9 machines online that I update weekly and have seen nothing. I would check yours. Sounds like the problem is on your end.

I check Windows Update at least once a week. This is the first time I saw it.

Anyhow, I checked WU again today, and now it is gone.

I got the same thing. The driver itself is for better implimentation of PowerNow! For newer cores.

I read about that before. I think its for an AGP issue thats prettymuch nonexistant.. LOL, or was ;)

Mine installed just fine BTW :)
