Ouch. You might as well get a new Thunderbird system for that price. It's surprising how Intel still manages to stay in business.. Wonder how it performs, though

its like i heard the story of the PIII 450 that sold for $840 when it came out, now look at it, we can buy a PIII 1gig for $100 now
Where can you get a p3 1 gig $100? The cheapest I have seen them is $170. Please let me know I want one for that cheap.

Intel is keeping the Desktop Tualatins at a high price as they don't want people buying them and want everyone on the p4(yeah right). Anandtech said they are selling them at like $260 per thousand or something like that.
Anandtech has a nice review on them and compares the preformance to TBirds and P4's. I can't imagine buying one of these for such a redicules price. I sill use Intel for my server and lan party machine but my toys are going to have to stay AMD's for now anyway.
can't believe they are selling them already and what about mobo's?

The TUSL is on sale now....check in pricewatch also.
Intel also is selling the new stepping as a board. Click here (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.html?i=1512) to see a comparisson of some mobos.
VIA has the Apollo Pro133-T and Apollo Pro266-T chipset. They seem to be supplying it to the mobo manufactures.
From what I understand mobo's like Abit VH6T, Gigabyte 6OXET, Asus TUSL2 and should be few others that all support Tualatin.

i wouldn't expect much though, Intel really wants everyone to go to a P4.

el...... most current mobos that can run 1ghz PIII can run the new chip all they need is a new bios flash to find it properly. i guess that this little plan by intel might acutally push more ppl to AMD
