increase range for cordless kbd

Mates,
Has anyone increased the range for Logitech cordless mouse and keyboard? (Logitech Cordless Optical combo)
My idea is to just attach an extra antenna to the transceiver, because I reckon that's the bottleneck. But I would like to know if it will help, before I break the warranty seal.

A bigger antenna might help but you'd do good to go to an electronics forum to learn how to replace the output transistor in the keyboard with a more powerful one
