Hello,

I just finished building my system here are the specs

SYSTEM:

MSI K8T800 Mobo
AMD64 3400+
2x512 Mushkin Enhanced 3200
250GB SATA Western Digital 7200
52x Plextor
MSI DVD ROM 16x
ATI Radeon 9800Pro
Audigy 2
Mach 1 cooling

When I finished building the system it booted up normally, but when I tried to install windows I got a lot of errors when the files were being copied like shell32.dll, (and some other windows files, could not be copied) I had to hit retry a couple of times. I tried different windows version, from burnt CDs and original copies and none worked so I used an old CD-ROM that I knew it worked but I still got the same message. I then tried using a 10GB Maxtor IDE HDD because I thoguth the SATA could be causing the problem but it wasn't. Then I just took one of the Mushkin's 512 out and tried installing windows. It worked, I'm running Windows XP right now but only with 512MB. If I shut down my computer and put my other mushkin in windows will boot, but it will be very unstable, and sooner or later crash.

I got a Mach 1 cooling system because I want to overclock the system but I don't think my RAM is working at all and I'm thinking on replacing both of them. I am very open to suggestions, I herd CORSAIR is very good. so according to my system, which RAM would you recommend me, I don't really have a price limit, but I want 1GB or ram (2x512 I guess...)

Test each stick individually with Memtest86. If either stick doesn't perform at stock speed, RMA it directly to Mushkin as they have excellent customer service. If you want to jump ship altogether and switch brands, pick up some Corsair as they're a very good company as well. You can still find some Corsair sticks that have BH5 chips.

I used Memtest86 to test them, with the one I've been using I got 0 errors, but the otherone got 17 errors. I then tested both, (I don't know if you are supposed to, but it made sense since they are supposed to run together) and I got over 30600 errors.

I've read posts talking about BH5 chips... what is that?

It's the shortened name given to a line of DDR-SDRAM memory chips that were produced by Winbond during 2002-2003. They were known for offering high clocks (high speeds - speeds above 200MHz) while sustaining a tRCD (a memory timing) set to 2.

Mushkin blue is their terrible crap line. Its supposed to run 3-4-4 timings or something.

You should get the pc3200 BH6 special. If you can find somewhere that will gaurantee BH5 get that instead.

yeah, I think that's what I'm gonna get, Mushkin (512MBx2) DDR PC-3200 "222 Special". It has 2-2-2 lentacy... its BH6 tho...

uhh,,, any other suggestions before I make my descision? lol

Re: Re: Mushkin not enough?

That's pretty much the best choice you can make without paying a fortune ($350+ for a gig). BH-6 RAM performs just about as well as BH-5 almost always, and Mushkin is a top-notch manufacturer with an excellent lifetime warranty. They keep stocks even of RAM no longer in production to handle RMA's for sticks that could break years down the line (i.e. they have sticks of BH-5 RAM reserved even now for RMA's that they absolutely won't sell under any circumstances to anyone).

Mushkin Blue line is not crap.. it is rated at cas 2-3-3... it is the same as the corsair CMX####-###C2 line of parts...

YDSB- try upping the voltage a tad and see what happens.
