I recently built a rig with a single stick of Geil 512 PC3200, the timings listed at newegg (and on the sticker on the stick itself) say 2.5-6-3-3. But when I run cpuz I see the timings are 8-4-4 @ 2.5.... if I get an identical stick will it run in dual channel?

My motherboard doesn't allow you to change ram timings so will any ram I put in there be timed to 8-4-4?

i dont know of ANY mobo that does not allow you to change the timing......

1>what mobo do you have?

2> is dram setting to auto?

1. I have a Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000-L Mobo

2. Yes, the only options I have in Frequency/Voltage Control are:
Cpu Clock Ratio
Cpu Host Clock Control
Memory Frequency (set to auto)
and then voltage control for DIMM, AGP, and CPU

Nvm I got it... had to use the cntrl-F1 mode for the gigabyte bios. Never owned a gigabyte mobo before and it's not mentioned in the manual. Stable at the timings it was sold to me as.... looking forward to adding the second stick next weekend.
