Just curious if anyone was an avid EQ'r like myself. I played for about two years up until about a month ago when I got rid of my account. Easily the most addictive game I have played in my life, wasted FAR too many hours there!

At any rate, I played on Tallon Zek, one of the PvP servers. Over the span of my EQ career I had a 53 druid, 50 shaman, 43 paladin and many other characters. I ended up playing about 285 levels on the TZ server altogether through various class/races.

how come you got rid of your account?

I had a friend who played addictively... the only thing he ever played was Everquest, to the point where his mom took away the internet connection one day because he was playing too much... :)

I never played, but I was pretty impressed by the game... I just couldn't risk getting addicted to it! :-)

I just got a new job and EVERYONE playes EQ ... Im very scared that Ill start playing.... I think Ill wait for EQ 2 if there is such a thing.

I quit playing EQ twice actually, once after a year or so, then again a month ago. I sold my first account on Ebay for $750 then went and bought the game again afterwards. My last account sold for $400 because alot of people were selling them and the market was getting saturated.

The game itself is ok, it gets old like any other game, but its the community of the game that will suck you in. Making friends online and hanging out with them becomes more of the purpose for playing. Verant did one hell of a job at making a game that keeps people coming back.

There was still alot I hadnt done or seen in the game even after two years, but I was just ready to move on. The game can be detrimental to your family and/or social life. There was time I spent on that game I should have been doing other things with family or friends and I regret that.

I have a friend who wasnt much of a gamer, hes nearly 50 years old too. He was the last person I expected to start playing EQ. He was VERY outgoing and active. He was always out riding his motorcycle or doing other things. He bought the game and I didnt expect him to stay in it. Well, like a year later, hes completely into it still. He doesnt do stuff like he used to and his wife hates the game.

So, if you dont have any friends to begin with or you have ALOT of time on your hands, by all means go get this game :) And no, there wont be an EQ2 that I know of, they just continue to add onto the existing game with expansions.

Well now that EQ2 has come and gone, I can say that EQ1 was better than EQ2. Even though EQ2 had better combat and crafting system, the game was a constant grind.
