What do you do with your computers when your electricty goes off? I usually unplug them and unplug my modem. Should this be good enough protection for when the power comes back on? I have three big surge protecters so everything is shielded by that also.

Well, ususally when something is unplugged, electricity cant get to it, so i suppose that its good enough protection. :)

Just leave it plugged in. If the power coming back fried components, the power company sure would have a lot of complaints. Your only power-related danger is lightning.

It depends on the type of storm that knocked the power out (if it was even a storm). If it's a wind/lightning/rain storm I'll unplug my comps (in case of lightning). If it's just wind, or its something else (snow, or whatever), I usually won't bother, because they all have surge protectors anyways.

I usually just unplug them incase of power surges. Then I go read a book or do something with my life. I just finished War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells and just started working on the book of Matthew. :D

Also make sure that you unplug any data lines that run to your computer. Working at APC, I was may machines killed through the modems and/or NIC cards.

If you are going to bother to unplug it. Unplug everyting. Router, Modem, and any data lines going to these devices, wether it be RJ11 or Coax.
