Simple question: Since it seems you can only get the OEm chip from Newegg, and not the retail, does this mean you don't even have the option of the 3-year warranty that comes with retail packaging?

And, as a follow-up, has it been figured out whether the M-2400+ is the same as the M-2500+ for OC purposes?

The retail buying public is not the designed market for the mobile processor. They are designed for the laptops so the replacement parts are intended for the oem manafacturs and the laptop repair market. Thus the oem's are expected to provide any warranity. Overclockers provide thier own warranity-none it goes out the window-

and for the dif there clocking close to the same

Since the processors are not supposed to be used in desktops it would seem logical that there would be no retail version... so newegg does not consider it their responsibility to warranty them... but some sort of AMD warranty still stands... if it's DOA I'm sure they will replace it.

Newegg will sell you a 1-year warranty for $5 extra... just add a mobile CPU to your cart and you will see an option for it at the bottom, above the shipping method selection :).

That one years is a pertty good deal , For $5 you run it stock id dies and then get it replace'ed

only bad things is this mobile is most likly gonig to be overclocked so that $5 will be a waste since there will be no warranty

but for those who dont, its a very good idea
