I played galaxies for about 5 months.

It was really fun at forst but it is not like KOTOR in the fact of "instant action". The point of the game is self defined, meaning there really is no goal to the game. you never win (unless you achieve your own goals) My goal was to achieve Bounty Hunter and ultimatly i wanted to become Jedi. Bounty Hunter was achieved after month 2 and was fun making money and being pretty powerful, Alas Jedi was never achieved.

To get anywhere in the game you must play for hours, and by hours i mean hundreds of hours. The Devs have created a game that is more about living than playing, at least in the beginning.

While this is a vague reply I hope it helps.

Also the $14.99 monthly fee hits your wallet pretty hard after your realize in month 6 that you have just shelled out $230 for a video game :( .

it isnt anything like kotor but you could still enjoy it if your into MMO's. I been playing since August and still continue to play it. However you will not start off with a Jedi, just as a normal character and deciding on a profession to work on, you can be anything from a Bountry Hunter, Pistoleer, Carbineer, Swordsman, Creature Handler to a Chef, Architect, weaponsmith or dancer. Plenty of different style to choose from, or mix and match. The game gives you 250 skill pts and it's up to you to decide how you send those in what areas, dont like the choice you made? Give it up and redeem your points and try something else. I personally have mastered 17 out of the 33 professions in the game so far. Mainly in a attempt to unlock my Force Sensitive Character. That's right, you have to unlock your jedi character, if you do you get a second character to play with on the same server with force powers and the jedi profession to master. At the current moment, you unlock your character by mastering a series of random professions with your character, a lot of people have unlocked (mostly power gamers) but it's not an easy road. If this sounds utterly stupid to you, and it does to a lot of people that still plays, there is hope because the developers are revamping the way you unlock. But no hard details on that yet. Anyhow what im trying to get to is that unlike KOTOR you will not be playing a role of a Jedi, at least not for a long time. Also the game is currently going through a lot of changes at the moment, as the dev are revamping the entire combat system of the game, includding weapons, professions, etc to better balance the game and make it fun for everyone. Anyhow if you decide to start playing, join us on the scylla server and look up the people from oc forum that already play :) There's a sticky thread on it
