I am setting up a new machine. I cannot run any Office 97 program (Word, Excel, or Publisher) after a reboot unless I reload one of the programs, then all three work OK. Having to reload Word with every reboot is a real pain. I am not having any similar problems with any other programs, and I run a bunch. Only the Microsoft stuff listed has beem problematic. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Did you fix it?

ECS K7VTA3 with TBRED 2400+ at completely stock speeds. Although I don't think this is a hardware problem.

Have you already installed all the various service packs and fixes for Office 97?

If not get 'em from office.microsoft.com
