I just took a fan from an AMD Oem heat sink and attached it to my 9700 Pro AIW heat sink..

I am stable at 385 core.350 memory. Seeing as how it cost basicly zero for that fan I feel pretty good about that Mod.

Any one else do this on there cards and get good results ?

what was your highest overclock for core/mem before the mod?

Maybe I should do that to my AIW. Its clocked at 30/306 which is pretty good for a stock 8500.

That more powerful fan should help lots. Only thing I can compare it to is taking my old celeron 700a's fan and putting it on my tnt2. That was blazing back in the day with a nice O/C to boot.

Now My 9700 is watercooled and volt modded so it hits very nice speeds :)

350/350.............. BUT

The core will remain stable at 395 Using this fan, and the memory was stable to 377 ..The problem I have is increasing both at the same time and keeping it stable..I Think I need to installl memory heatsinks to be able to run it at the max 395/377.

But for now 385/350,on air is really quite good, add the fact i did not swap out the heat sink and the mod took 3 minutes and I am impressed... Now all I need to do is cool the memory...
EDIT:
Stable at 390/360...Thats as far as it will go and remain perfectly stable...Still not to bad for an air cooled card..
