View Full Version : locked 2500+ at 190FSB showing as 3200+?

Just what it says, I've got my FSB set to 190 and CPU-Z is showing my cpu as a 3200+ (for complete slarity, this is a locked, non-mobile, barton w/ and 11x multiplier)
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but souldn't the resulting 2.09GHz show as a 2800+? It's a bit off-putting.
I've got another issue with the memory showing up as dual channel on an Asus X-X, but I'm putting that in the motherboards forum.

Hi, mobos usually display default settings correctly but once you make overclocking adjustments they tend to behave differently, sometimes displaying MHz, sometimes approximate PR rating.
2800+ Barton is [166] x 12.5
Your FSB of [190] is what influenced your display to show the 3200+ which comes as a 200 FSB part, even though the multiplier was different.

This belongs in AMD CPU's, not in General CPU's, please remember that for next time. Thank you.

Thank you for that information, c627627. Certainly makes sense now.
This belongs in AMD CPU's...Rats, I thought I'd done that! And after I was so careful to make sure to make sure my motherboard thread was in the Asus AMD MB forum, too. Mea culpa.

No problem, just a friendly reminder for next time.

I am merely telling him to remember that for next time. I know he was after help and its not a big deal. He just made a mistake and we have been having a lot of issues with people posting in the wrong section, so I am just giving him a friendly reminder. I am just spreading the word, without that nobody will listen and everything would be in the wrong place. Thanks for your concern. If you have any questions please feel free to pm me, I am always happy to answer them

mdcomp did the right thing. He was not flaming this person, he was not angry at him, he was just pointing out that it is in the wrong section. I point out all misplaced posts becuase something needs to be said and it is a major problem here at the forums. If you have a problem with me or anyone doing that, feel free to discuss that with me via PM.
There is nothing harmful with pointing out something is in the wrong place. It is not meant for the poster to feel bad etc. BUT, for others who happen to see the thread think about where they have to post next time if it is a similar thread. If 99.9 percent of people posted AMD stuff in the Intel forum, and 99.9 percent of people posted Intel stuff in the AMD forum, some people may think there is a reason and mispost too. That is an extreme exageration, but you get the point I hope. Im not trying to be disrespectful here or anything, im just explaining. :)

Also, one more thing that I forgot about ukdan, and thinksnow:
W E L C O M E T O O / C F O R U M S ! ! ! ! ! ! !
@md0cer, thanks for the support. You were not disrespectful in any way.
Ukdan, we are a community here, we are all here to help out one another. It is important for veterans to help fairly new members learn the rules and I was simply doing that.
Hope you have a long and informative stay here. Enjoy it!
Where are my manners?

Ok thanks mdcomp, I hope I did not come across as disrespectful. Whoa! I forgot to link to the welcome thread. Oh well, you got it covered :D

So...why is this in the Intel CPU's forums now? Man, I tell you, its people just put stuff everywhere! :D
FTR, I took no umbrage at the post about proper forum placement, I was genuinely chagrinned by my oversight since I had noticed specific stickies regarding that very thing and, as I alluded to, I had taken great pains to ensure another post of mine landed in the correct forum.
So, thank you all for the welcome, no harm no foul on the forum reminder and on to better and faster things.
Uh yeah - why's it in here now? That reminds me, I'm going to drop by the Chevy dealership and see if they can order some parts for my Ford ;)
My appologies its just that you came across as being very abrupt but i understand now and many thanks for the welcome.
