Ok, i've made a post about this several times, but i'm still looking for a final answer. I want to overclock my Duron 600 to around 850 mhz, preferably. I have an Asus A7V mobo that is revision 1.02 E590, i believe, released in august 2000. The duron was also purchased around august 2000. can you guys explain this pencil trick or rear defrogger thing to me? And i think i'm going to purchase one of those Globalwin FOP-38's for cooling, where's a good place to buy one of these? please tell me how to do this!

Pencil Trick? (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28107) That's some arcane magic you're getting into there, son!

Just kidding. It's real easy to do. Click the link above, and you'll see someone else's post that address this very same question. How's that for service with a smile?:D

And don't feel bad about asking, we're here to help. And if we missed your question before, sorry about that.

oh yeah, i've tried messing with the dipswitches before, and it still posted as a 600 mhz duron even though the dipswitches are set to 700....i'm thinking either i didn't turn jumperfree mode off properly? cause isn't it supposed to lock up if it's locked and you change the settings?
