For those of you who have talked to me some in my wait to begin my first AMD overclock, you may have caught onto the fact that my main (and only) rig is rather old. How old, you say?

Well, I shall let the pictures speak for themselves. And try and remember I'm running WinXP and programs like Photoshop 7 on this. So if you ever catch me on a crazy day, you'll know the reason now:

I'm going to go back to my room and cry a little more while I wait for my tax return to come in now. Thanks! :p

hey, guy we all have to start somewhere, when u get ur money,
checkout the classifieds. there are alot of good deals and many great parts for 1/2 price. goodluck on ur new rig...

Hehe. This computer was the one I built with my graduation money from high school ... back in 1999.

And I'm slowly but surely making my way towards 100 posts, and when I do, I'm sure I'll check out the classifieds. Though right now I'm just a PSU and some ram away from having the new OC rig ready to roll.

I just got a good laugh out of still running a rig with scores that ridiculously low. When I got my ram, PC133 wasn't even out on the main market - I special ordered it from a manufacturer in Atlanta.

That's not too bad. I got only 200/196 with my old K6-2 500 paired with the old ALi Aladdin 5 Chipset at 100FSB. CS was great at a great 30FPS. Try rendering anything on a K6-2, now that's suffering.

Perl, your benchmarks do have one characteristic I've never seen before in my short overclocking life. Your floating point bandwidth exceeds the integer value by nearly 54%. Ain't percentages great! Seriously, is that an Intel characteristic I've not noticed before?

Shame on you. You did mention that t word. :(

Yeah, that floating point thing is pretty weird. I don't feel so bad about my ancient system now, though.

And yes, CS at 30FPS would be nice. The last time I tried to play, however, I was getting about 10FPS in indoor areas, and 5 - 7 FPS in outdoor ones. Not exactly the ideal sniper setup. lol.

Hey, Deeppow ... guess what's coming up soon?

TAXES! TAXES! TAXES! TAXES! TAXES!

Heheh. ;) Maybe you'll get a nice, fat return. And buy me a present. Like BH-5. You know, overclocking comrade to overclocking comrade. ;) :D

And speaking of old systems ... I worked for News 2 WKRN-TV in Nashville for a couple of years (the ABC station in Nashville) as the web producer. For the first 8 months I was there, they had me working on a PII 233 with a 15" monitor. Talk about impossible! I didn't even have a tower ... had one of those old Packard Bell looking boxes that your monitor sat on top of. They finally got me a Gateway 2.0Ghz system.

And check out the specs for the computers they just approved for the webteam where I work now (I work for Metro government on Nashville.gov):

I own you all.

By the way, it's my dream that someday I'll be able to run CPU-Z on the 386 in my avatar. Need a working mobo, though

And no, that's not my main rig ;)

Does anyone know whether CPU-Z or wcpuid run in win95 (or 98 or ME)? If so, then I'll seriously try to do this.
