A friend of mine purchased a 1GHz/266 chip from newegg, expecting an AXIA or may be even better, well he did not get it, but a misely ARGA chip, that tops out somewhere around 1170 - not a good deal. I thought that this might be a conincedence, considering that AXIAs were abundant only a few weeks ago, but today I went to a computershow and I saw several 1GHz both in 200MHz and 266 flavpor all coded ARGA.

Interestingly 1.1 GHz chips were almost not available, and AXIA now seems to start at 1.2GHz.

So just a warning don't order a cheap chip blindly try to confirm the stepping.

AMD must have caught on...

Both the cpus I've bought from dabs.com were absolute dogs - the tbird 700 that wouldn't go past 875 whatever, and the duron 600 that took 2.3V to get to the gig stable. Next cpu I get (hopefully a 1.33gig soon) will be a garaunteed AYHJA from overclockers.co.uk :)

That's a big reason why I bought my 1 GHz 266 FSB chip at a computer show. I think the ARGA code is older, though, so it may have been a leftover.

I love my AXIA-Y, that's for sure!

Yeah. When ever i buy i cpu i make sure to see it in person first. When i went to Frys electronics to get my 1ghz chip i asked to see a few from the sales lady and i happen to find a axia "y" one that now goes well over 1.4ghz.;)

You could be stuck with a slot 'Bird that wont crack 900mhz... :(

My friend just bought a new 1.1Ghz ARGA. It runs VERY darn hot. Literally TWICE my temperature. I dont think all of it is down to difference in cooling.

Steppings are supposed to improve the chip quality. Why have AMD decided to take it down?
