I was wondering if its a good idea to overclock a chipped core that still works. I don't have water cooling. Sometimes the temp's I get from the chip go all the way upto 44c (strangly) idle in win98. I usualy just shut down my comp. an let it cool down for a few then turn it back on. the temps I get then are usualy anywhere from 32c-38c. I used mbm5 to take the temps. My current cpu is a t-bird 1.2ghz 266fsb w/ a OCZ gladiator hs, I modded a 92mm panaflo fan on it so it cools pretty good. Oh ya, my mobo is a KT7A so I shouldn't have a problem oc'in it.

My main question is will oc'n it possibly damage it more (I know this is possible) or should I just do a lite overclock to it just to be on the safe side.

Should be ok to oc - if the chip had been damaged at all, it wouldn't be working. Plenty of people have chipped their cores slightly with no ill effects - I guess AMD made them with a bit of excess silicon around them to protect them from vicious Gorbs and the like :)

What are OK CPU temperatures?

I usually get about 42°C, but when I'm doing something CPU intensive i get up to about 60°C, atleast this is what ASUS Probe tells me.

42c is about right. Temps up in the 60's, thats a little toasty. But
tolerable. I had a Duron 700 with 3 chipped corners and still
overclocked at 950. So it can be done!

You can overclock it without any problem, I have a P3 1Ghz that is chipped bad and still i was able to overclock it by 170mhz more. Of course if it is a dead proc then it's worthless.... = )
