Currently I'm having lockups when using the PlayCenter2 that came with the card. I removed the Microsoft CD player, but that did not resolve the problem. I have an AsusA7M266 with VIA (3) in 1 drivers 4.31. ( AMD AGP driver )
What does the Emulation driver do? Do I need it? How do you disable it? Help

Now it's freezing randomly. playing DVD's or CS

I use the 4.32 drivers with no issues but don't have an AMD chip, so if there's something wrong with the AMD driver, maybe give a shout on the AMD motherboard thread.

I heard using PCI slot 3 is recommended when having issues. Currently, I'm using slot #4. Could this help, even though I don't have any apparent conflicts?

Well, slot #3 didn't help any. I'm still freezing up. THe card is still sharing IRQ#10 with 4 other devices. Should it have an IRQ all to itself?

I was getting the same problem but the later versions of playcenter2 are more stable, download the lastest version of Playcenter 2 from soundblaster.com.:p

I was having the same problems with my SBLive! X-Gamer, and I finally got fed up. So I got a Philips Acoustic Edge, and haven't looked back. The sound is so much better it isn't even funny. It may just be a case that your mobo will not work with the SBLive! 5.1.

Supposedly most of the fixes that enable LIVE!'s to work on a 686b chipset board don't work with LIVE! 5.1's. I'm not speaking from experience mind you, when I found out about the potential problems I decided to avoid LIVE!'s like the plague. If you go to http://www.viahardware.com they have a lot of info on the whole 686b / LIVE! situation. Maybe you'll find help there.

Good luck.

I updated my BIOS (1004a) and my S.B. live! now shares IRQ#10 with only one other device...PCI to IRQ Steering. I applied most of the settings as recommended in the 1003 BIOS bible(for AsusA7M266). Everything has been smooth for a couple of days! We'll see how the rest of the week goes
