I think I know why MadOnion's production was higher than ours this weekend... I checked their forums, and saw this by Wolf1man, their top folder:

I am going to have all 45 of my machines running 24/7 for the long weekend here. I might even add a couple of pentium II's just for the weekend. I am going to be pumping them out like crazy this weekend.

That explains it, doesn't it? 45 machines runnning 24/7?

Stanman, you need to upgrade! No, I mean DOUBLE your computer count, lol

Anyway, you are STILL outfolding him, so I don't think his 45 machines are all that great - but he is the 5th most folding person in the world - You (Stanman) are number 4!

Fold on!

Wega!

Go Stanman! Don't let that Wolf dude get to near you!

45 comps and he isn't even getting close to stan but that is the only way those stinking onjins are catching up to us.

He is just one spot behind Stanman in production... so I wouldn't say that he doesn't even come near... but I'm glad Stanman is with us! :)

Actually I doubt if all 45 of "his" computers are his. They are probably where he works. I just noticed tonight that if you look at the Stanford top 25 page, they don't have cs-sdk listed there, since it is not actually a person. That means in a little over a month I will settle into the number 3 overall spot, on Stanford (http://foldingathome.stanford.edu/new2.shtml#STATS) stats. That is as high as anyone can go with the output that Trevor T and OneNutt are pumping out. If anything I am going to downgrade, because electric bill was $361.00 this month. So I hope all of you are gearing up to take up the slack. :)

Let's NOT leave it to Stanman to all the work. I think we all need to add a Machine or Two.
I had to log in under smarty I can seem to log in under my old user name "burn'em

Stanman if you wanted to send some of that computing power my way, I'd be willing to set it up and get it folding. :)

(blatant request for a socket A board for my spare Duron chip, lol)

As soon as I go back to school and a 24/7 connection, of course.

What does TrevorT and OneNutt have crunching for them? How many computers?

they prolly have like universities or something folding cuz they are fast

Oh yeah, I might not be able to fold on my home computer in about 3 weeks time, but perhaps I can get the university computers folding... or at least some of them! :)

I'm moving to our summerhouse, and there is no phone line (yet), so I would have to use floppies a lot to fold on my main rig... which is a possibility. I'll look into it.

I Think OneNutt has 70 700 pentium II or III's or something like that I am not sure, but you can bet one thing he is not paying for all that electricity. :)

Just to let you know Wolf1man's list of machine are almost all Intel based....mostly P3's so that might explain why Stanman is out producing him.....we all know that AMD based machines rock with folding@home.:D

I was going to say they must be Intel to be that slow but you beat me to it tkmckay. I just threw another 866 Duron together to be give me a little boost. It will be folding in about an hour or so. :)

That sounds great Stanman! WTG!
Time for another signature chance i reckon?

Its kind of amazing that even though Wolf1man has almost twice the number of machines as you there Stanman that your out-folding him by quite a bit....Folding@home is definatly ment for AMD based machines if you want performance in a big way!

Hey, there is still room for us intel guys! :)

Yep your totally right, I don't mean to come across sounding like if your running Intel based systems for folding its not worth it. Everything helps! It just amazes me the difference in performance between Intel and AMD when it comes to folding@home. I know for other distributed computing projects this wasn't the case, they were much closer together. Like for seti@home they were very close togther in performance.:) I have 2 machines from both companies running folding@home right now. Heres the list:
-P2 300@300
-P3 800@800
-Athlon 1.1@1.1
-Duron 600@1125

And i'll soon be adding an Athlon 1.4ghz MP @ not sure yet....;)

I know you ment no harm! We just can't have outsiders (possible future folding members) thinking that there is no reason joining if they have an intel CPU. :)

But you are correct, there is quite a difference, sadly enough.

I bet this isn't the case with Intel's little philanthropic distributed computing project... I'm sure it uses SSE and SSE2 heavily....

But are we here to kiss Intel's derriere? Nope!!

(For the record: I won't kiss AMD's derriere either, and especially not M$'s derriere)

Not that I am sticking up for Intel, but I think that one point that everybody has overlooked is that if "his" 45 computers are at a school or business, I am sure not very many, if any of them are as fast as mine, which the average is just guessing around 1300 - 1350mhz. "Not a sermon, just a thought" ;)

Then again, if someone is going to go out and buy a new folding rig they should know not to spend their "life savings" on a big new P4 thinking that they are going to outfold everybody else. :p

I think that no matter what sort of computer you have, it can make a difference to the project totals, the teams totals and the individuals totals. Even that p2 300 system I have running folding@home makes a good difference. Its only capable of doing about 5-8units/day(about 1-1.5 of the larger units) but that does add up quickly over time. Thats about 35unit/week, 140units/month just from that little system! 35 units/week would put you in about the 80th producing spot in our team out of the 343 members which is farly good I think for a machine that is now over 3 years old!:) So now matter what sort of system you have, you to can make a difference!:D

Looks like the wolfman can't hang, this week he has done 101 day and 734 for the week. Thats the differance between your folding rigs and someone elses. I just wish someone else was getting the electric bills. :p
