ive been thinking about buying a 2400 XP mobile to OC. my goal is to hit 2.5 GHZ on air cooling. main question is this.......which MB is going to give me the least problems hitting the FSB i need, Asus A7N8X or Abit NF7? main features on the board im looking for are onboard sound, onboard LAN, and SATA.

Id pick the NF7-S , there are alot of people here that say its a very good board

My Mobile2500+ on an Abit nf7-s gets 2.8ghz. I cant get it over 216fsb though. The DFI lanparty/infinity would most likely be your other choice if you wernt going to get a NF7-S. Their FSB is suppost to be awesome and multipliers should be good as well.

I dunno. Thats a tough call. Its entirely up to you. Both boards are exceptionally good and have their fair share of problems.

DFI = high speed / little performance
Abit= lowspeed / high performance

Whatever suits ur philosophy better I would get. IMHO they are equal :beer:

I have been running into the issue also on the latest NF7-S...seems like there seems to be a 215 to 220FSB issue on most newer NF7-S's (without modding it)...My limit is 217...anything under 217...no issues...218 and above...no boot...no matter what voltage or CPU or multiplier I use...have one 1700 that would do 235 on my first NF7-S rev 2.0...also have a 2100 Pali that would do 245FSB...and neither will do past 217 on the newest NF7-S.

I honestly am looking into the DFI motherboards now...even though I personally do not like them that much...(DFI makes the NF2 motherboards for Epox)....and I never had any luck with my 3 8RDA+'s...doesnt help when 2 litterly catch on fire...when not OCed...caps litterly exploded and caught the MB's on fire...
