Hey guys!
I'm about to try the pencil trick.
Before I do, I need to know a bit about temperature.
I'm running a 1 Ghz Athlon, and my idle temp is about 45°C. When I do something processor intensive, i sometimes get about 60°C. What are normal values? Is my cooling unit ok? This is it, btw: http://www.titan-cd.com/d4t.htm
I want to overclock my 1 Ghz to about 1,333 Ghz without bying a new cooling system. Thanks!

60C is to hot, if you want to overclock. Stay under 55C and best under 50C. Are you using some kind of Thermal grease? If not I think you should get some AS2 and se if that helps on your temp's. Also du you have some case cooling? You could also add a fan or two and se what that did.
If it dosen't help enough, I think you should get a new cooler.

What programs do you use to measure your temperature?
Maybe my program is innacurate. I'm using ASUS Probe!
Thanks

I also use the Probe, but mine is not innacurate, actually, mine report's the same as bios. But a lot of other people are having problems with the Pobe. I also use MBM 5 and Sisoft Sandra 2001 sometimes.

OK. I'm apparently constantly running at about 50°C.. at 1 Ghz which isn't too cold.. so I'd like some help with finding a nice socket cooler at www.tekheads.co.uk .. I want about 40°C.. and when I overclock to about 1333 Mhz I'd like 55°C

tekheads are expensive, try overclockers.co.uk first. The only difference is you have to pay for delivery, but the service and variety is FAR superior.
50ºC LOAD is ok once your overclocked, but if your at that at the moment dont kid yourself. I run my cpu at 38ºC LOAD and I cant overclock whatsoever because of instability. At least my cpu will last a long long time though.
