Make sure fps_max is set to 100 in your console!
The Halflife/CS default is 70, it could have some how referted back to default! Also make sure vsync is off... and raise your refresh rate.

PLZ HELP!!!! THIS IS GETTING UNBEARABLE!!!! i cannot play any fps games without it lagging!!!! just like my old card thats y i upgaded i really need sum ideas!! do u think theres anything wrong with the card????
did you completely uninstall de nvidia drivers before installing the ATI drivers? not doing so can cause major screwups, not sure but it could be that. there are programs to really remove all traces of a driver before installing a new one, just clicking uninstall doesn't work.
If that doesn't work then try putting the old mx440 back on and see if it still performs well, if it does it could be a bad ATI, if it does not it is the system.

sounds like its time for a complete reformat then...
and did you use NFR (nasty file remover) to make sure ALL nvidia drivers and regs where completely uninstalled?

Go in to BIOS, I don't know what your BIOS looks like, but somewhere in there is an option to change the AGP speed, I doubt it's that. Personally, I would backup and format, as our juggalo already suggested. :)
As more of a personal request, would it be any trouble to spell words in full, correctly? I know it's the internet and all, but when it's at the point where I have to decypher what someone is saying, it's just too difficult.

Well if you are 100% positive that all the Nvidia drivers are unistalled and honestly...running 4x and 8x wont cause that...running 2x might though...but I doubt you have a option to run it at 2x's since the newer cards and motherboards are 4 and 8x only cards...
The only thing left would be...backing up and doing a complete format..because there is a driver or reg conflict going on somewhere in your system...and its possible that you will not be able to correct the conflict until a complete format is done...
Believe me, I know it sucks...but you will be a lot happier with a new card and a new install of windows...

Whatever files you want to back up...me personally...I just back up emails, favorites and any saved game files I want too save...and whatever downloads you want saved...
But I have 2 HD's so I have 1 HD setup for all downloads...so I dont have to back up them...

goto www.omegacorner.com and download the latest omega drivers for radeons. They are super stable and fast, this may make it faster for ya.
Xplo trust me when I say nothing in your system could bottleneck a 6 year old game. Also there is nothing wrong with running ddr400 memory at 333. My bro's 1700+, running 266fsb, and a stock Gf3Ti500 runs CS at full speed. The problem is software related. Something is up with your drivers, your really going to need to make sure all traces of Nvidia are gone... and that may mean a reformat. Trust me when I say... that it will be worth it to get your 9700 running at full capacity, it is an unbelievably great card.
Also what version of drivers did you install for your 9700?

i installed the omega 1s from the start, i dont no which 1's tho coz my m8 sent me em, i dont really want to format but if i have to... does any1 recommened reformatting??
How about trying the latest Catalyst drivers from ATI? That's probably your problem.

Lets take some time to review the Half Life game requirements:
Minimum PC Requirements:
Pentium® 133MHz
Windows® 95/98
24MB RAM
400MB hard drive space
16 bit video card
Windows compatible sound card
2x CD-ROM
28.8 Kbps modem
With that being said... you need a new computer, cause what you have is WAY too slow. And on a side note, p134se d0n7 t47k k1ke this, you look like an idiot and it is much harder to read.

If you missed it, I was kinda layin a little sarcasm on pretty thick. But I have no clue what would be causing it to go that slow.
