I currently have 2*256 sticks of Mushkin 222 Special running in dual channel. I really would like to have 1 gig, but I can't justify buying 2*512 right now. How bad of a performance hit would I take if I bought one 512 stick and ran it with the 2*256?

Do you have a AXP or Intel system? If its a AXP system you wont get a performance hit, but with an Intel mobo you will lose half of your memory BW.

depends on if he has dual channel...

if no DC is there, then no performance hit will be there, DC with AMD systems is a small hit... DC on an Intel rig will impact RAM BW quite a lot more...

Do you have dual channel on your mobo?

Like I said in the first post, 2*256 in dual channel. :)

Epox 8RDA+ Rev. 2.0. AMD

If it's not a real bad hit, I'll go ahead and do it for now, then buy another 512 stick later.
