High system idle process

Hi...

Ive just had a brief powercut which reset my computer ... I have just restarted it and now the system idle process is taking up between 50 - 100% of my CPU (almost always more towards 100%), it seems to run fine although i havent tried any games yet, does anyone know why this could be? Im running xp pro and the rest of my specs are in my sig.

System Idle process will 'say' it is taking up xxx of the CPU, but look at the STATUS bar at the bottom of taskmanager, what is the CPU usage there?

Well i am still a n00b ... it says only about 7 - 16% runing a few progs. I just thought it should have been lower. Never mind! Thanks anyway.
