View Full Version : Just got my new DD kit, too big!
hi all, i just got my long awaited danger den watercooling kit!, but unfortunately i cant fit everything in my case! :( i have a full tower case too. my system consists of:
MAZEP4 Copper Block
Cooling Cube Copper Radiator
7 Feet of 3/8" Silicon Hose
Water Wetter 4oz Bottle
Eheim 1250 Pump
1 5/8" to 3/8" Adaptor
10 Hose Clamps
1 3/8" T Fitting
4"x4"x4" reservoir
does anyone have any ideas on what i should do? can i run all this equipment outside of the case? or should i make some sort of box to put the pump, radiator, and reservoir in? and if so what should i use? would i have to put fans on the box it self to cool the components inside just as i would in the computer?any ideas or comments are greatly appreciated.

I would recomend either getting a bigger case or, making a box that can hold those parts and attach it to the top of your case, or wherever is most convienent.
well i cannot afford a bigger case at this time and the next step up from what i have would be a server case :( hmm i will have to try your idea of puting it on the bottom of the case, thanks for the idea!, any other ideas?
Well. I have a full tower case and can fit everything inside. But the thing is that i have my case is open all day anyways so it doesnt matter. If i were you just leave everthing outside cuz your radiator can get fresher air. I may make a seperate setup to hold my resovoir and radiator. What ever fits your needs. If you realy have to have to move your case around all the time then its its a prob but otherwise it aint no thing.

You have a midtower, don't you? I do too, and if you didn't have that resevoir, you could probably fit it all in your case. I did. :)
Course, I had to do a couple mods, build a stand so that the radiator could get air from beneath the case, move a couple PCI cards so my pump would fit...other than that, it was a piece of cake!
well my case is 24 1/2" tall and 7" wide i dont know if that qualifies as a full tower or not but i guess i'll have to operate on the case to make some stuff fit! :) thanks for the ideas guys, i guess i'll build some sort of a container to hold the pump and reservoir and i'll have the radiator outside on top of the case with a 120mm fan on it, sound good?
I think many of us put the cube on top of the PSU in an Inwin Q500. I think you may be about an inch short in height for doing this. Check out this link (http://www.wisemangrafix.com/caffeine/index.htm) . If this fellow can fit a complete Danger Den system in a Lian Li PC60, you should be able to fit it in your tower.

i use my radiator/reservoir/pump outside my case, and get much better temperatures.
for one thing, it is keeping the hot air from the radiator from entering the case or the flipside being it keeps the warmer air from the case from being used to cool the radiator.
i put my radiator right where the a/c vent blows so that it gets a nice dose of 56 deg F air when the ac kicks on every so often. the rest of the time it's drawing 75 deg F air instead of the 82 to 89 deg F air that is in the case.
this allows me to put ALL my fans (2x 120mm, and 2x 80mm) on rheostats and turn them way down...eleminating the noise, yet keeping my cpu and case at MUCH lower temps.
only drawback is moving the setup...but if you dont have a reason to move it often, i'd say...go for external!
