Hi,

I plan to run an OEM AMD 1.2 pc266 chip on a KT266 Pro ddr board , I plan to do some mild overclocking. I am wondering if my current Global Win fop 32 that I have been using on my PIII 700 will be enough or if a Volcano II would be better and it is cheaper.

I read that the AMD chips run hotter and I have also been offered a Delta 38cfm fan for $45 canadian. I just do not know which would be the best but I am guessing the Global win fop 32 should be enough????

AMD's do put out a lot more heat then Intel cpu's. The FOP 32 is a good HSF but if you plan to OC that 1.2 a Delta 38 fan put on your current sink would make a nice improvement for very little money. Or if you want the best get a Swiftech with the 80mm Delta.

You should be ok with a FOP if you add that 38cfm fan to it. $45CDN is hella steep however. CDN is like $.70 US , right? So a 38cfm Delta should cost you no more than $15 tops.

A FOP with a Delta should beat the Volcano II, I think. Any body know for sure?

The only difference between a FOP-32 and a FOP-38 is the fan, BTW.

I have the FOP32 and it keeps up with my 1.33 t-bird when it is not overclocked, but does not do the greatest when overclocked. The VolcanoII does not get the best reviews. If you are going to spend the money you might look into some of the copper coolers.
