Hi there.....i've got the Alpha PAL6035 running on my Duron800@1ghz but i'm moving up to an Athlon-C 1.2 or higher. I definitely plan on overclocking as well....will this HSF do the job or do I need something new?

I find the noise on this fan bearable, but i'm weary of what i'd ahve to move up to with a new HSF.

Fill me in folks.....TIA

If you wernt planing to overclock then yes I think it would do 1.4ghz no problem, that is at defualt voltage. That heatsink is a whole lot better then a lot of the ones that come with retail 1.4 cpus. But once you start uping the voltage of your processor is where I would say you might start to get some heat issues. If overclocking is your goal then I would recomend a new hsf. For starters I would look into the thermalright SK-6. Read up about them in the cooling section.

Depends what fan you put on it... If you get a delta its going to be pretty loud, but what I would recomend is the "Mighty Machine" from 1coolpc (http://www.1coolpc.com). It has the SK-6 heatsink, a 60mm-80mm fan adapter, and a more powerful yet much quiter fan the delta for 50$.

That's what I'll probobly be ordering this week sometime. The "Mighty Machine". Looks like a great cooler!

The PAL6035 should be Ok for mild overclocking - if you're serious about getting into the 1.5 GHz + range I recommend the SK6, Glaciator, or Swiftech MC462.

Although I'd like to see what a PAL would do with one of those YS Tech extreme 40 CFM fans I have been hearing about. :)
