Popping with Line-in

Ok, I am capturing video with my new Geforce3, and notice that the sound is crackling in the background. WTF??? I lower the Line-in volume, but am still getting crackling. Is this an isolated SB Live! problem, is there a fix around it? What can I do? I do this as a large part of my computer usage, and can't have popping in the background. Oh, and I found that the lower volume coming into the card, the less crackling.

there are known SB Live issues and most of the time getting the newest drivers for the VIA chipset from viahardware.com will resolve them...

I already have the VIA 4in1 4.32 drivers. I don't think it is an issue with the Southbridge, because everything else sounds great, microphone, rear and front out, line out, digital out. I believe it is an isolated Line-in issue, but I'm not sure of a way around it.
