Max Payne 3DMark Requirement??

I have recently begun building a new Overclocked Duron machine.
It is an AMD Duron 800 (running at 1100 at 100fsb) on an Abit Kt7 Board, with a 256 PC133 Cas 2 chip, a Geforce2 MX400, a SoundBlaster Live Value, 8X DVD, and what I believe to be a weak link in the 6gig ata/66 5400rpm WD HD. A new game I have purchased: MAX PAYNE (which is phenomenal by the way) has a recommended sys req. of 3DMARK 2001 to total 2000 points or higher. Now I can get 3DMARK2000 to score 2700, but can not get the default benchmark in 2001 to exceed 850 points.
**Can anyone offer suggestions as to why the game requirements are so unattainable by my system????? Thanx!

u have something definitely wrong..........something is way way way wrong....

I have a PIII 800 @900
256 pc133 cas2
tnt2 m64

and I get a score of like 1500(3d 2001) and 3400(3d 2000) or so........no way u should be under 1000.......

Anyway, I think that 3dmark 2000 score of yours is really low. Perhaps it is a driver issue, how about downloading some reference drivers from nVidia?

My P3-700@1001, with a GeForce DDR@145-350 gets 5875 3Dmarks, using the 12.40 drivers.

Good point above - have you the latest drivers for everything? (Video card, sound card, Flash Bios etc), and in 3DMark2001, make sure that such score sapping thing like Anti-Aliasing are deselected......Play around with the settings. I can get better scores with a stock PIII 600,using all the latest drivers.

I agree with the previous posts. Those scores seem too low for the hardware. My friend's Compaq (Don't ask, I didn't recommend it for him) is a 1ghz and slightly outscores your computer. He's got a TNT2. My friend's 750mhz Cybermax blows the Compaq's scores out of the water. I guess maybe just make sure you've got your AGP set to transfer at 4x.

I am 99.9999% shure I know what your problem is. Try installing the latest Via 4 in 1 drivers and watch your scores tripple.

You sound like Microsoft. When they were running that ad for one of there server products I think, 99.9999% uptime. Sorry, that just popped into my head when I saw that.

Hey thanks man! I hope it works! It has been killing me, I am half way through Max Payne with %(&^$# fps, It totally ruined the experience so much that I quit playing it until I can score over 2000 on 3DMark2001.!!

Sort of like Microsoft except I'm sure it will work. With MS products your are 99.9999% guarenteed to have your os crash once a day.

Installing the 4in1s and OCing My gf2mx400 skyrocketed my 3DMark 2001 score from 850 to 2250 instantly - I got my card to run at core 220 and mem at 375 too!!! Thanx!!!

Sweet how does Max Payne play now? I would like to get my hands on the game and give it a try. Now I can say 100%!

Like it should - unbelievable!!! Action game of the year!! Hands down. Unless SOFII can hold a candle. But considering neither have MP capailities, it will be tough for SOF to pull it off I think! Can't wait to see it though!
