Hi all, I am Tony and new for this forum. I got a P4 1.6A at this moment, and thinking of upgrading the CPU and the mobo.
Well I need your advise, should I go for a P4C or a Prescott? I will go on with following components:
-Asus P4P800 mobo
-Kingston Value Ram DDR400 512MX2 (Which will do 2-2-2-5 at 200fsb)
-ATI Radeon 9700 pro 128M
-WD 120JB
So, what do you think which CPU could be the best performence/price ratio solution? In the terms of overclock and performence....
Thanks for your advise.

NW 3.0 is getting rather nice air overclocks.
You might even get 3.8-3.9 ghz if you're lucky.
i have a 2.8e, 2.6c, and 3.0c and the 3.0c is by far the best.
i've got one at 3.9ghz on air :)

Only in the past (or in your dreams). These days 512MB value ram will carry Samsung or Infineon chips that rule out all chances of 2-2-2-5 timings.

i like the 2.8's and 2.4's....prescotts just get on the tad bit hot side...not something you want sucky cooling

I bought the RAM several months ago when I upgrade the RAM for P41.6A from 512M to 1G. I thought DDR400 maybe the best choice for future use so I go directly to DDR400. and just a few days ago my friend told me this is good stuff base on BH5 chip.
So if I go for 3.0C, which serial to find? I saw some post mention SL6WK or so?
Thanks, Tony
there really is no specific thing to look for on a 3.0c anymore.
i have a 30 cap sl6wk that does 3750mhz
i have 12 cap sl6wu's that do 3650mhz, 3900mhz, and about 3800mhz (still not finished testing)
