I've put my first computer together, but am a bit nervous about the temperature my 1.33 ghz amd chip is running at. According to my asus status monitor, its staying right around 63 C, does anyone know if that is high (or low?) Does anyone know a good operating range for a chip of this type? I've looked at the amd website but could not find any technical specs on this issue. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!!

They are quite hard to find cause all the variables. I would be worried with anything above 45c idle. Have you tried a 3rd party temp monitor? Like motherboard monitor 5? Have you tried WPCREDIT to modify your registry to take advantage of your CPU halt command? This one mod alone can drop temps by 5-10c!!

Right now I have a coolermaster fan/heatsink attatched, but no thermal compound (Which I guess I should add). Another thing I'd be interested in knowing is what is the lower break-down region of the chip? i.e., at about what temperature is the performance/longevity of the chip in danger?

AMD says 95c but I would not trust that!! I feel that anything over 55c is in the danger zone, Idle should be under 45c. YES get some thermal compound and a new heatsink!!

I have a 1.333 Ghz. processor running at 1.333 Ghz. My idle temp is 30 degrees and gets up around 50 under very heavy load. I am using a coolermaster hsf that I have been wanting to upgrade. I feel that the variance in temperature between idle and load is too high. I will be getting a new one soon.
