Ok i just got a new linksys BEFSR41...I have them hooked up to the net and they are connected...the thing is that i can when i transfer files from one comp it goes 5-8mbs on one computer but when i transfer files to the other computer it only goes like 300-400kbs...I was wondering what could possibly be causeing this?? Also I cant seem to go into the program files of one of the computers....it says that i dont have premission...how do i give permission...I set the C drive to shared when you click on the properties...also i find that browsing the folders on one comp to another is very laggy....
Thanks in advance

to access fully a networked drive use this \\networkedhost\driveletter$ for example \\lancelot\c$ all you need are the proper permissions. if you are using the same login name and password on each computer its easy.
there are only two computers right? and transfers are faster one one way than the other, yes? its probably a priority issue, or some kind of driver option that preserves cpu usage at the loss of bandwidth.
and browsing network folders tends to be laggy, thats just how it is.

Win XP tends to guard some folders pretty well. I don't know if the advice of gusgizmo corrects this or not. I'm gonna try it some time to see. But, for example, the 'Program Files' folder itself can not be shared in XP. You can share files inside 'Program Files'. Go figure why they did that. 'Documents and Settings' is another folder like that.
As gusgizmo stated, cheap network cards use lots of CPU to do the job. It's like a hardware modem v winmodem.
