I pretty lazy and don't like to read. I downloaded the demo for Neverwinter nights and there was a lot of reading. I was wondering if the whole game was like this ?

Yes.
if you don't like to read then stay away from RPGs...
I could very well go into a huge rant about how dumb it is to not like reading and how people these days are generally stupid and lazy but i think i'll resist

Don't think of it as "making you read," but "promoting literacy."
If you're to the point where NWN is a "lot of reading," you really shoud put down the keyboard (gasp!) and pick up a book.

Guess he never would have lasted in the old days of text only RPG's on computers :p

In games that take hours upon hours to complete, interaction between hundreds (and possibly a couple thousand) different NPC's, its extremely hard to produce voices for all but the most important. Not to mention it would be an extreme use of HDD space and not very cost effective

You have to admit though that it can get pretty boring reading all the dialogue especially if it's really corny. I remember there was a final fantasy or breath of fire game where almost after every sentence they said something like "you know?" or "right?" or something to that effect.

West of House
You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front... .....
"What is this? English class? Screw this, I'm playing Quake.."

Hey Lucasarts did it with SW KOTOR, so its not an excuse anymore.

Yes, but all the speeches for each non-human race are identical (listen carefully - each wookie speech is really the same sound file played over and over, or a couple alternated).
You are carrying one half-empty Anchor Steam beer, a GameBoy, and an angst-filled heart. You are in a clearing in the woods near a technology company.

You are in a clearing in the woods near a technology company. There is a dwarf here with a hat that says "QA" on it.

SCREW YOU, THAT'S MARKETING'S JOB says the dwarf. He hits you with a TPS Report and you die.

they would still need text,
and you will find that more RPG players are paitent enough to read, then not.
the voices would be waisted on me since I tend to have the sound low when playing games, and I can read for the most part much faster then the voices could talk

I don't mind reading, but I do think KotOR was a lot more immersive with its good voice acting. Other then the aliens, of course.

They do.
I've been playing it for a couple of weeks now. Most of the reading will provide hints on where to go and what to do. When you talk to the charactors they do speak along with the dialog box that comes up. You can click throught the conversations quickly if you want but you have to ask a variety of preprogrammed questions.
