Hi, guys this is my first post so bear with me. I was wondering if anyone has attempted to overclock a CPU while striping two hard drives?? I was also wondering if they were able to keep it stable.......
I have 4 that are overclocked and have a RAID controller striped in mode 0. No problems from any.
I have had failure on my VP6 (Abit Hot Rod Pro) at over 155 MHz FSB. My memory is the problem on my EPoX 8K7A+ so I don't know how the controller on it holds up at over 150MHz FSB. Wouldn't be a problem anyways since it has the 1/5 and 1/6 PCI divisors.
I do know that IWill controllers generally crap out at 40MHz PCI bus. This is not too bad though since it's at 160MHz FSB. Promise cards generally do well at high PCI buses too.
If you are ONLY overclocking the processor via the multiplier then there should be no problems with any controller. Heat, enough voltage and the actual ceiling of that chip are your only obstacles then.
Almost forgot my manners. WELCOME TO THE FORUM!
Hope you decide to stick around for a good time to come. It's the most informative and friendly on the net!
Welcome to the forums.
I'm using the onboard Promise controller included on my A7V133 in a RAID 0 configuration with 2 WD 30G 7200 ATA100 hard drives. I've had the FSB up to 140 with no problems form the RAID (I don't recall where that puts the pci bus on this board). I've achieved as high as an 88% overclock with this configuration, Duron 600 @ 1130 before I had heat issues not related to the RAID configuration. You'll have to watch the bus speed just as you do with any other pci card.

Thanks guys, this seems to be one of the best OC sites out there. Hopefully, hehe :D , I will get my KG7-raid I have on order. I can't wait to OC my Axia 1.33 TB and stripe my 40 GB IBM's. Will keep you guys posted if I get any good numbers out of my Axia.
