For me the "good ole days" were spent playing games like, "The Bard's Tale, Ultima 3, Airborne Ranger, Beachhead, Brue Lee, Zorro, etc (basically every commodore 64 game ever made :))."

Prior to that was Atari. LOL Now those were the days. 4 hours of Space Invaders at a time. hehe

I just have to add some titles to the great ones (c64):

Blue Max (not 2000)

Lode Runner - This was superb! It even included a level editor

Boulder Dash 1,2... I used to see boulder dash-dreams while sleeping

Turrican - Awesome graphics, music

.. and a zillion other ones...

booya! I still have an Atari 2400 and another Atari model sitting around in storage! I wonder if I could even get them to work anymore! those were the best though, nothing quite like original Atari... I remember the days of being addicted to Space Invaders and PacMan, playing forever!

actually, as far as really old games go, my glory days were playing original Zelda in the basement on a barely color TV... now that was a game that required HOURS of playing! great fun though, I played it emulated a couple months ago, and it was still great fun! :)

as for computers, of course Wolfenstein 3D and Doom are the classics, but for me I was also addicted to playing the Wing Commander series, numbers 1 and 2 at least... hehehe blasting big furry kitties in space ships, it doesn't get any better than that!

I personally think the fun factor in old games puts newer ones to shame... I would rather play something truly enjoyable than just eye-candy or that revolved completely around multiplayer...

... said the Q3 addicted Rocket Arena boy ... :)

Ahhh the good old days! I remember as a boy the day I rushed home with excitement hands quivering as I unscrewed the screws holding that vhf antenna on my trusty old black and white TV to hook up my shiny new PONG game :D To my surprise I could play squash and hockey too!!! oh the rush the thrill of it all!!

Anyone remember "Betrayal at Krondor"?

I'm remembering a bunch of games that where 40-60 bucks when I first got a computer.. and I couldnt get them..

now I can get them for free, and legaly off abandoned games sites.. holly cow. there are sooooo MANY old goodies in here and most of which set the stage for the gamming industry, if not set certain futures in gamming.

so far I've found gundam games, dragonballz,, RPG games, cloak and dager games, galatic war games.. (my FAV.. M.o.O forever! )Old 16 bit goodies that I have to run in DOS.. ugh why is it I can never escape having to review dos every few months?..

Gotta love the inbult pc speakers playing OLD midi's.. awww man brings a tear to my eye..sure wish my sound blaster used the same irq and dma in dos as it does in windows.. err vise versa.. man its a pain.. ah well!

Game on!

Jeez, I remember playing pong...

Dad brought home one of the pre-produciton Apple ]['s mounted on a piece of plywood. The only game for it were a star trek game and Tie Figher or star wars. I migrated on to Ultima, Wizardy and the game that I probably enjoyed the most, Sundog.

I still think I have that system somewhere, along with the high-tech tape drive!!

had pong, atari 2600, coleco-vision and commordore 64. pit-fall and asteriods on the atari, zaxxon on the coleco-vision, and zork on the 64. i even wrote a game in the junior-high computer lab (think it was on a 64) in BASIC called "toker". i think i did the graphics with logos, don't remember. now i just play 80's arcade games on my computer (galaga, joust, defender, etc.) my 2600 still works but you can download about 500 2600 games to play on your pc. pretty cool. thought about trying to write a 2600 game but assembly language is no fun. nothing better than reaching behind your tv set and moving a switch from "tv" to "game"!
