I have just purchased an NEC Multisync 95 monitor. I boot my PC into several different OSes. Everything is fine, except when I boot into Win95 OSR2, if the screen resolution gets changed for whatever reason (playing a game, or manually changing the resolution in Display Properties) the monitor settings get thrown out of whack. For example, the horizontal position will be as far over to the right as the on-screen controls allow, or the vertical size will be as squished as the on-screen controls allow.

Any ideas why this would only happen in Win95 OSR2? WinME, Win2K and Linux all work flawlessly. I have already tried different video drivers for my Nvidia GF2MX card (no TV out).

Thanks.

Have you tried changing the refresh rate from adapter default to 60 or 70hz?

Try changing the resfresh to optimal.

I've had this problem for some time with my existing monitor. Get it the right size and centered for 800x600, then when something want 640x480 the screen gets bigger, and is shoved over so one edge of the picture is beyond the phosphor. Go to DOS for some reason and it is shoved similary. Gotta get myself a digital monitor.

That's an old problem... I haven't seen it in years. I know it has something to do with the refresh rate defaulting and causing the screen size to default...

I've figured out what's causing it.....

In Win95, using Detonator drivers version 7.X and newer, I get an error message about NVQTWK.DLL on boot up, so I use version 6.5 of NVQTWK and NVCPL with all newer detonators. It seems to be the miss-matched files that throw off the saved monitor settings. If I use the complete set of 6.5 drivers, or the complete set of newer drivers (and ignore the DLL error at boot up), then the monitor retains it's saved settings.

Another thing I noticed is that it seems to happen more frequently with DX8 installed as opossed to DX7. (Yes, I did a LOT of testing last night).

Anyone know how to fix that 'Unable to load NVQTWK.DLL' error on boot up? I would like to be able to run DX8 and DX8 optimised drivers on Win95.

Thanks
