View Full Version : 4ns,4.5ns,5ns,5.5ns
First of all "ns" stands for what and second of all if you can explain what does it mean and measure? The better cards seem to have lower numbers but I'm not sure why.
Thanks ahead
NS is the rated speed of the ram in Nanoseconds. The faster the ram is rated the faster the card will overclock. I have seen 3.5ns ram on a Geforce2 mx which made it about as fast as a Geforce2 ddr. Faster ram makes a big difference.

And you can convert ns into MHz by using the formula - 1000/xns.
So a 4ns chip operates at 250 MHz.
4ns DDR operates at 500 MHz. (more or less.)

If your talking about the Gainward card, then its not fast as a ddr but still a good 10-20% faster then other MX400's.

Yup, the lower the better.
If the mods happen to see this, I would recommend this to our database as this is a great question and has been asked by many new members (hell, I didn't even know the equation as simple as it is)...
