I might as well add my first LINUX post to the list as well.

I've been "playing" around with Mnadrake 8.0 for the last couple of weeks in my spare time.

I found it very easy to install. Although it set most things up I still have to feel my way around a bit. For instance I've still got to get my network working properly, I've got the nic configured to find the internet on my LAN and through a router, but I can't see any other compouters on the network. I'm not real pleased with the display, the text is a bit hard to read at times. Might have something to do with the Voodoo 3 video card.

Just stumbling along.

To get the sharing set up you need to set up SAMBA. Check out someplace like www.linuxdocs.org for a how-to. :)

did you buy a boxed distro? if you did have a good read of the manual, if not get your self a good book, the teach yourself linux in 24 hours is very good for a beginner as it sets out tasks rather than just carrying info
