View Full Version : PC-61 or Super LanBoy?

I probably prefer a more conservative case. A window isn't bad, but the grill on the front of the Super LanBoy bugs me a little.

I'm after a quiet case first and foremost. I'd like to do some water cooling in the near future. Like everyone else, I like a case that's sturdy and easy to work with.

I know that people around here prefer the do-it-yourself water cooling kits, but I'm also leaning towards a Koolance Exos. I like the fact that it's all contained in one unit and seems to be pretty solid.

I really like the way the Super LanBoy is setup for harddrives. I also like the fact that the front of the case can be closed... I don't feel like painting my optical drives or buying new bezels.

I'm drawn to the PC-61 because so many people rave about the quality of the case. A black case would be very nice to look at... but I'd have to do something about the fronts of my optical drives.

Thoughts/comments/suggestions?

Im not sure about the case.. but I definitely want to get a koolance exos despite what people say that you NEED a self-made kit.

if you want a quiet case, i would choose antec sonata or antec slk3700bqe

This is the case I chose. It has more room then the lanboy, stealth optical bays w/rails, side mounted HDD w/ rails, dual 120mm fans (1 optional), 2 temp probes w/ led readout, and it looks good. Also if you get the Koolance it would look even better.

I've looked at Sonatas... I think I like the Super LanBoy a little more, even though the Sonata looks better. Everything I've read says the Sonatas are very quiet, but they lack a little in the cooling department. They look really nice, but for some reason the black piano finish doesn't really appeal to me.

Thanks

I vote for the PC-61.

Aluminum rocks. It's an awesome heatsink for your hard drives and is light.

The PC-61 has some neat options available as well...:)

DBA will depend on the fans you use. I use enermax adjustable speed 120mm fans and yes it is pretty quiet compared to other setups I've used. And it has decent airflow.

Thanks for the help folks... I ordered the P160 that Tismedt suggested. I got so worked up after reading the reviews, I ordered a windowed side panal too. I got the case and the windowed side panal from Buy.Com for $120 after using a coupon.. got free shipping too!! :D

I think I'm set on an Antec TRUE BLUE 480W power supply. They are supposed to be very solid and very quiet. I intend to order this from NewEgg.com.

Is there anything else I might want to order from NewEgg when I get my PSU? Will this PSU come with enough connectors? I'd like to take advantage of the fan connectors for the case fans. I've got two optical drives, a floppy, and two HDs I intend to power, along with the two case fans in the P160.

Thanks again!
