The card is not overclocked but the CPU is, that is why you are in the 4000 mark in 3dmark2001.. Good scores by the way.. Overclock the card and try to get somewhere around 4800 mark.. its possible

I get close to 4800 with my Ultra. See my sig.

How do you overclock a g-force card???

Search for the coolbits registry tweak. It adds a page to the display properties which allows changing of the core and memory speed. I would suggest focusing on overclocking the memory as thats make a big difference while overclocking the core does very little to increase actual performance. You can also get a popular program call POWERSTRIP. Sometimes the drivers from your card's manufacturer include this capability also. My Leadtek included overclocking in their WinFox program but I ended up deleting it and just using coolbits.

Find out the memory speed on your card and then use this formula to determine the MINIMUM it should be able to run at (xx=mem speed in ns).

1000 / xx * 2(if DDR)

Most Ultras come with 4ns memory which is good for 500 Mhz but they default to 460 Mhz per Nvidia's spec. You should be able to easily hit 500 Mhz with 4ns memory. If you are really lucky it will have 3.8ns DDR and if you are unlucky it will have 4.6ns DDR.

The higher memory clock speed and 'free' overclocking because of the conservative memory clock speed gives the Ultra a huge performance advantage over the lower Geforce2 cards, even the Pro.

Thanks for all the help, how do I install and where do I find the program....
Thanks for all your help. Before I forget are you using the stock HSF on the graphics card or should I use a different HSf. There are already heatsinks on the DDR memory.

A quick search for 'coolbits' at yahoo.com found this URL:

http://www.3dchipset.com/utilities/nvidia/overclocking/coolbits/

Readme.txt with install instructions is included.

I am using the stock HSF on my Leadtek GF2 Ultra. I have not done any mods to my card. Again, start with the memory and get it as high as possible without producing visual artifacts in games. Then, if you are bored, overclock the core. It might increase your benchmarks somewhat but overall you won't see any real performance increase since memory is the bottleneck in the GF2 architecture ... in most cases it just doesn't matter how many billions of triangles the core is producing when only so many can get through the limited DDR memory bandwidth. Changing the HSF on the core might increase the highest core speed you can reach but, again, it won't matter much.

Len, I ve downloaded coolbits from the site suggested in the URL. However once I downloaded, unzipped and clicked on the win9x version of coolbits it a question prompt up asking me too add coolbits to registry. I clicked ok. I then went into start, run and typed in rundll32.exe nvqtwk.dll,NvHWCtl and followed the instructions below:

Rightclick on desktop and select "properties"
Select "settings"
Select "advanced controls"
Select "additional properties"
Select "hardware options"

I can't find the additional tweaking program. I have the latest denot. drivers installed. When you click on additional properties on the g-force ultra tab I cannot find hardware options....Please help..

Try a reboot.

What version of the Det drivers are you using?

Some newer versions of the Det drivers don't work with coolbits. I'm not at my home PC but I think I'm using 12.9x and coolbits works. But I've heard some others say 12.4x might not work. I didn't really pay much attention to that discussion so I'm really not sure.
