After using my Duron 850@1000 for 4 months, last day when i powered my system, it reported running at 600, I cleared the bios and tried to adjust the setting again but nothing happens, its still 600, when it is in its normal setting its speed is ok (850) but when I try to overclock it it becomes 600, so I'm running my system now at 850. My mobo is a MSI k7t Pro 2-A, its highest recorded temp is 41, I think its problem is in the mobo's battery, will it be fixed if I change its battery into a new one? Please help me.

i don't know much about this stuff, but perhaps the problem might be with the pencilling of your L1 bridges on the duron? if you used a pencil on them it might have worn off? just something to check maybe...

sounds like it could be a l1 bridge thing.. have you checked them?

Have to go along with the Crowd on this one. Sometimes the conductive nature of the penciling wears off or soemthing. Perhaps you should try a more permanent solution of Using a Window Defogger Repair Kit. Or more simply repenciling the bridges and see if that cures your woes. I know when I first did it I got the same problems and solved it but repenciling the bridges.
