My friend is currently with the BX model Intel Pentium board which he is jumping from a 400MHz Celeron and he was wondering if the Pentium3 850MHz with the 100MHz bus would do 1GHz if overclocked. Anyone else with this experience?

Also, is there a 1GHz 100Bus pentium3 and a 1.1GHz 100bus pentium3? I looked on the Intel site and the pentium3 site was updated and still says 1.1GHz which means 100bus to get that right?

thanks in advance!

This is his motherboard, has anyone hit the 1GHz mark with it and how?

thankyou

Hi AtomicGuY,
Like you can found into the CPU database on the Home page, some P/// 850 works@1Ghz and more, but more depends by the chip.
The best way is to set the Fsb from 100Mhz to 133Mhz for the probs linked to the Pci Frequency, rise a little the voltage, if not stable, and take a look to the temps never above 50 degree C.
About the chip P/// 1Ghz, or more, I think are difficult to found but I remember that the first one exsist.

I hope it helps you and your friend :-)

Yea but going from 100 to 133 would push it to a gig and then a few mhz more. I am sure it can do it as long as the CPU is cC0 stepping. Those cC0 are amazing.
