I have seen a lot of people talking about ocing their 2.4c, but would it be better to get a 2.8, then overclocking it?

er, posted this in wrong forum, can you move it to cpus please? thanks

I'll second the 2.8c, she's a beast, especialy the M0. Good luck!

well i have had used several of each but never a mO stepping!

0ut of the 4x or so 2.8c's i have tried the best only did 3.25ghz

i have built 3x 2.4 rigs that go past 3.4 with low Vcore.

But it really is just luck as u never know untill u have that cpu in ur box!!

the 3ghz is a good price now i would try that!(I will be trying one next week)

Doesnt the 3ghz processor LOSE ground on benchmark scores after you overclock it though?

is there currently a place (i.e., newegg, zipzoomfly, ect.) from which you have a good chance of getting a m0 stepping 2.8c?

My P4 2.8C is stable at 3,220, only that my mbo doesn't have higher fsb to oc. It's all relative. if ou can bet a 2.4C to oc to 3500, cool then that's the one. At newegg, for only 17 more bucks you get the 2.8C, your choice.

Well, I OC'd my 2.8c M0 stepping to 3.5GHz with no change in vcore. Runs ultra stable at 250 fsb and memory at 1:1.

I could go higher with some vcore, I know; but, I'd rather not drive my chip into the ground with OCing just a couple more MHz. All this, and my CPU temp is 29c idle and 35c load. Nothing for me to worry about ;)

Also, I chose the 2.8, just because to get both chips to 3.7ish GHz (pretty much known as both chip's maxes +/-), it would be much easier for the 2.8 to get there. So, easier on the chip. That's my reasoning, whether it's sound reasoning or not, who knows ;)
