View Full Version : Anyone know of a switch for kb/mouse/mon?
I'm looking for some kind of a switch so I can run a bunch of boxes off 1 keyboard/mouse/monitor/etc. I want to get a few more boxes folding but I don't want to buy monitors and stuff.

I have this KVM(see link below) with a regular ps2 mouse and keyboard. It works fine with my msmouse and generic keyboard. It might have problems with newer multimedia mice or keyboards though. This site has other kvms. Just do a little research keeping in mind your input devices. Link (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-107-401&depa=0)

Yeah, just look for a KVM switch. Here are some examples.

I personally use a Belkin 4 port here http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-107-320&depa=0

overdoze, if you look closely at the second picture, you will see there is a spot for a power adapter. The adapter just isn't shown in the picture. But at least you can change computers with the keyboard instead of having that out all the time. Pretty good deal too.
You might want to save some money and use VNC, which allows you you to take control of other PCs with no additional hardware, as long as they are networked. I run it across my network.

But power is not needed for desktops... it gets power from the keyboard port. Power is only needed when using laptops with it.
@David: I agree, VNC is the way to go, simple and effective and FREE. Here are some other flavors of VNC:
