hi, i'd like to increase my RAM, now i got 2x256 mb ram running in dual channel at 200Mhz(winbond ch5), and i like to upgrade to at last 768mb,l read somewhere thats better to balance the channels, then it would be better add 512Mb , to get 2x256+1x512

Then, will i have trouble if i try 3x256?, would it be slower than my present configuration?

Can anyone explain why is this, and what is the best way to go?
Note that 2x512 is not an option, because it's too much money.

Running 3 sticks on a Nf2 is worthless. You cannot clock high at all.

You will probally loose some speed, plus if you do not get CH5 again, you might have even more problems.

The best way to go, is the option that you said you cannot do.
