Newb here, actually haven't even got my Radeon Pro yet (Powercolor 9800 Pro 128 - due Friday).

I've noticed some people have flashed their card, I assume BIOS, to the XT version. Can someone tell me or send me link or thread location how this can be done, and if the results are worthwhile?

I don't plan to go nuts with cooling, mebbe some mem sinks, but thaz about it. Should I just stick with my ATI/Powercolor drivers? Or Omega? I'm new to this, so any info would be great!

Many thanks.

Before you flash your BIOS, you should be sure that you're card can do XT speeds with no problems, or else you could overheat your card (significantly reducing it's lifespan). To do that use ATITool (atitool.ocfaq.org). It's a great ATI overclocking utility with built in artifact tester. For instructions on flashing see here (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=270479).

i just bought brand new 9800 pro from circuit city, flashed to xt now at 460/374 with no artifacts, try it at 411/364 before u flash, if any artifacts prob wouldnt suggest u try flashing, then again after i flashed i was able to go higher:D added a old athlon cpu cooler and ramsinks too

I tried to flash my 9800Pro and it didn't work. And my card can go to 441/745 without artifacts. Only flash it if you really want to, and don't worry you can always flash back like I did.

Blue have you tried different bios's or just one...you can try others till your card picks the one it likes...
