The default value (at least in the BIOS 3R of Abit KT7) says that my 800mhz duron SHOULD be at 1.60v and the I/O at 3.4.

However, when I boot into windows THREE different software programs (mobomonitor, moboprobe, and viahardware) tell me I am actualy at 1.67V......and 3.51v respectively.

What should I believe?

Secondly........if by default My chip runs (really suppose to) at 1.60........but in reality for whatever reason ON MY SYSTEM...1.60 is really 1.67v as the software is telling me.......should I lower the voltage to 1.525 in the bios? That SHOULD make the software say 1.60 and COULD lower my temps because it would be using the correct voltage.......1.6 instead of 1.67. This is assuming the software is correct.....and my PSU is somehow off spec by .7v.

Also could the same be true for my I/O as well? If I am supposed to be at 3.4 but the software says I am at 3.51 shouldn't I lower in the bios to 3.3....so that the true reading will be 3.4? Again assuming the software is correct.

**EDIT** I posted this at first in the "software and " something or other catagory. Realizing that ultimately this was a "cooling" issue/question.....I reposted here. Sorry if this is a problem.

I think if your going to overclock you will end up liking the higher CV. Also When my CV is set to 2.10 it will show lower because of the programs i'm running so your CV may be set at 1.7 ive never heard of Bios being that far off before so I wonder if it may be a sensor thats reading wrong and telling the software incorrect info.

This is assuming the software is correct.....and my PSU is somehow off spec by .7v. It would not be your PSU that is off it would be the power management IC chip on your MB but that would only be for CV there is another chip that controls VIO settings again i find it hard to believe that both chips are running higher then normal and it does not matter how much voltage the PSU feeds these chips the will send out exactly what they are supposed too why your getting these high readings is a good question maybe by my trying to answer this someone else will come up with a better answer.

I wouldn't worry about the voltage much. 1.67 is still pretty low. My Duron 650 @ 1000 is at 2.0V.

If you're really concenred about temps then lowering the voltage is an option. Just keep an eye out for instability. The IC that regulates voltage on your board is off by .7 V apparently. This will come in handy later if you decide to really overclock. When you set the max voltage of 1.85 you should see 1.92 in reality. Very handy.
