Hi Guys,

Can anybody point me in the right direction on how to install two WD 36 GB 10K Raptors in Raid? I've been trying all day long and I haven't managed it. I'm probably doing something stupid. The steps I have taken and the furthers I have come:

1. Connect the two raptors to the SATA connections
2. In BIOS put On chip Serial Ata setting to RAID
3. Started Windows XP install
4. Pressed F6 and have inserted floppy labelled Intel ICH5R
5. Continued WXP install.....but windows only finds a single 36GB HDD
6. Format partition and WXP copies setup files
7. After reboot : WXP detects error in hardware configuration...bla,bla,bla

After this I have to start all over again but I'm not going much further than this. Before the Epox I had an Abit IC7-G with which I didn't have any problems installing the SATA drives. What am I doing wrong. Should I hook up a PATA HDD and install WXP on that one and then install drivers to enable the ICH5R SATA option?

Pretty Clueless Now......and had a tooth pulled today...

Have you gone into your raid bios and made a raid stripe? Yes, putting the on-chip setting to raid is necessary, but you still have to tell the computer what size stripe you need. When it is detecting your raid drives, see if you can hit something to go to a raid setup page.

Edit: Besides that, everything else looks good, you have the right steps, it's just you are missing that cruicial step, if I read what you wrote correctly.
