Hey guys ...
A buddy of mine just dumped an A7A133 mobo on me, and I have nothing to do with it at the moment. However, since I have 256MB of PC133 SDRAM at home in a PIII 450 system (and this board uses up to PC133 RAM ... don't know how well it will OC from there), I figured I buy a relatively cheap AMD processor and swap out this board and processor with my PIII and Abit BX6 board.
This board is supposed to take up to a 1.4Ghz processor (again, don't know how far the board can actually OC), and 266FSB. When I build my new system, this will go in the rig in the living room hooked up to the TV so occasional users can play a game of CS, play some NES Roms, check their email, etc. with my old Riva TNT2 Ultra 32MB card.
What's a good, solid AMD chip to stick in this thing that I can mess around overclocking with a little, too? The nice thing is, if I burn it up, I can always throw back in the P3 and Abit board, and be good to go again.
I'd really like to spend $60 or less on the processor, if at all possible, and I haven't heard great things about the OCing potential of these old ASUS boards.
Just wanted some input (and if you happen to have a chip for sale, maybe an offer ... lol). :D
Thanks,
Dave
