can you use wpcredit to help cool your cpu with halt instructions if you use win2000? doesnt it already do that?

HLT instructions are already built into Win2K.

Using something esle that forces HLT instructions on Win2K can cause a corrupt NTOSKRNL upon next reboot.

In short, don't do it.

I did not have any problems with it. I am using it on Win2kPro with no issues. I mean at worst you would have to go into safe mode and disable it if it did not work. Its no different then using CPUIdle or other similiar programs. So in essense I have a difference of opinion. Perhaps my setup differs enough that we just get different results. I get no crashes or BSOD yet and now I get even lower idle temps then my sig says by about 10c easily.

I did it with win2k server sp2 last night and nothing seemed to change but the room was like 90F so who knows if it really made a difference or not.

I found out the hard-way that ambient seems to play the biggest part in temps. I bought every type of cooling device imaginable, then I just turned the AC down more, and turned the fridge off :)

I was at about 80f in my corner of the house, now I'm about 72f, made a huge difference in stability.

Temperature is the key to all things stable. When overclocking its paramount. But with 110 degree temperatures outside Its gets rather warm even with the A/C on. SO using WPcredit makes the difference :)

I used it on my chipset with 2000 and i cant tell if it worked cause i cant check temps, mobo sux. anyway it didnt cause any bad issues as of yet so i dont think that its such a big deal
