I'm tweaking my dual channel AMD setup to see if I can use really low timings and have enough bandwith so that performance doesn't suffer. My normal timings would be 3-3-3-8 at DDR400 (3200+, 11*200 at 1:1,) which suck.

I'm trying to use dividers to lower my RAM timings, and am hoping for dual channel to give me enough bandwith so that performance doesn't suffer.

I did not test 11*200 @ 1:1 in dual channel because the performance difference (not the MB/s difference) is dysmal, so if I reach single channel FSB then that's good enough.

Using AIDA32 I came up with these numbers

Single channel DDR333
2500+ 11*166
1:1 ratio, DDR333 (PC2700)
PC2700, 2.5-3-3-7
Read: 2260MB/s
Write: 869MB/s

Single channel DDR400
3200+ 11*200
1:1 ratio, DDR400 (PC3200)
PC3200, 3-3-3-8
Read: 2871MB/s
Write: 1047MB/s

Dual channel DDR200
3200+ 11*200
2:1 ratio, DDR200 (PC1600)
2-2-2-5 timings
Read: 2085MB/s
Write: 936MB/s

Dual channel DDR266
3200+ 11*200
2:1 divider, DDR266 (PC2100)
2-2-2-6 timings
Read: 2242MB/s
Write: 989MB/s

At DDR333, my ram's timings are 2.5-3-3-7, which are ****ty, so I won't do that.

Any help/tips/comments/warnings appreciated.

My question: What can I use to benchmark this? I don't care about memory bandwith, so I need tests that rely on RAM, but don't focus on it.

I hope what I'm trying to do makes sense.
